The Chipping Norton Lake Authority was established in 1977 with the objectives of:
The task of restoring a 5 kilometre reach of the Georges River together with adjoining foreshore areas is now substantially complete. Some $40m has been spent on the rehabilitation of the area which had been damaged by uncontrolled sandmining in the 1960’s.
Crown Lands is currently looking at options for the future management and promotion of the newly created parklands. Future management options will seek to more fully develop the Chipping Norton Lake Scheme as a regional greenspace in the midst of the urban areas of Western Sydney.
The Chipping Norton Lakes Scheme is located between Fairfield, Bankstown and Liverpool City Council areas.
