From 1 February 2009, the number of waterway precincts was reduced from 429 to 54 for the purpose of calculating domestic waterfront rents. Macro precincts comprise a greater number of properties with licensed domestic waterfront facilities which are used in the Precinct Statutory Land Values (PSLVs) calculation.
The move to larger precincts has resulted in a reduced fluctuation in rentals and a more consistent and equitable approach whereby all licensees within the one precinct pay the same rate per square metre for their domestic waterfront tenure.

1. FAR NORTH COAST Tweed - extends south along Tweed River from Tweed Heads to Stotts Island and west along Terranora Creek to Terranora Broadwater and Coraki Broadwater.
Kingscliff - extends from inlet at Kingsciff southward along Cudgen Creek.
Murwillumbah - covers the Tweed River from Tumbulgum to Murwillumbah.
2. BALLINA MACRO PRECINCT Ballina East - comprises of 3 separate sections. The first section runs along the southern side of the Richmond River from the river entrance south to Empire Vale Creek. The second section runs along the northern side of the Richmond River from the confluence of Emigrant Creek and the Richmond River south to Pimlico Island. The third section of Ballina East Precinct covers the area along both sides of North Creek from Prospect Bridge to McGoughs Island, Ballina.
Ballina West - covers the area west of Fawcett Street, Ballina along the northern side of the Richmond River up to Emigrant Creek. The precinct also extends along the northern side of Emigrant Creek up to and including the waterway adjoining Smith Drive Pimlico.
Richmond - commences on the northern side of the Richmond River at Pimlico Island and the southern side of the Richmond River at Empire Vale Creek and extends south to the town of Coraki. This precinct also covers the greater Lismore area along the Wilsons River.
3. NORTH COAST MACRO PRECINCT Clarence - covers Iluka, Yamba and Angourie. The southern component of the precinct covers the Sandon River.
Bellingen - extends along the Bellingen River from Mylestom to Thora; along the Kalang River from Urunga upstream to Briefield; waterway south of Valla Beach, through Hyland Park and west to Viewmont.
Lower Nambucca - extends from Nambucca Heads south to Macksville. The southern component of the precinct covers the waterway from Grassy Head to Kempsey.
4. MID NORTH COAST MACRO PRECINCT The Anchorage - extends from Hastings River Drive to the intersection of Settlement Point Road and Girraween Road Port Macquarie.
Hastings - extends along the waterways west from Port Macquarie to Wauchope and north to Telegraph Point; includes waterways west from Camden Head joining Queens Lake and Watson Taylors Lake.
Greater Taree - extends along the Manning River and adjoining tributaries from Harrington to Taree; includes the Landsdowne River upstream to Landsdowne.
5. GREAT LAKES-UPPER HUNTER MACRO PRECINCT North Arm Cove - runs eastward from waterway adjacent to Promontory Way around to location adjacent to Merriwa Boulevard.
Tea Gardens - Along Marine Drive, Tea Gardens
Great Lakes - Along Wallamba River to the north of Tuncurry and to the south of Nabiac; waterway to the east of Forster, western side of Wallis Lake and along Wallingat River; section along Boolambyte Creek, section north of Tea Gardens along the Myall River; section along Bulga and Bundabah Creeks, east around the bay through Bundabah and South Pindimar to Kore Kore Creek; Karuah River north from Karuah and including The Branch River.
Wallamba Cove - Southern side of Wallamba Cove from Taree Street to Regency Crescent.
6. PORT STEPHENS MACRO PRECINCT Extends from Nelson Bay west to Salt Ash and north to Karuah; includes the small island opposite Carrington and upstream of the Williams River from Raymond Terrace to Eagleton.
7. LAKE MACQUARIE MACRO PRECINCT Lake Macquarie 1 - extends south from Booragul to Inglewood Street Morisset.
Lake Macquarie 2 - extends north from Swansea Heads and Swansea to Eleebana.
Lake Macquarie 3 - extends east from Bonnells Bay to Cams Wharf.
8. TUGGERAH LAKES MACRO PRECINCT Extends from Lake Munmorah in the north adjoining Lake Budgewoi and along the entire Tuggerah Lake foreshore.
9. BRISBANE WATER MACRO PRECINCT Brisbane Water East - commences at Russel Drysdale Street, Caroline Bay East Gosford and extends along the eastern side of Brisbane Water around to Wagstaffe.
Brisbane Water West - extends along the western side of Brisbane Water from Booker Bay to Frederick Street Caroline Bay.
10. HAWKESBURY MACRO PRECINCT Hawkesbury River WAO 1 - consists of six sections along the Hawkesbury River including: Mooney Mooney Creek from the Old Pacific Highway to Fox Bay; Bar Point; Milsons Passage west to Sunny Corner; Bar Island; Fishermans Point; and Marramarra Creek to Coba Point Berowra Creek.
Hawkesbury River WAO 2 - runs south from Collingridge Point to Berowra Waters.
Hawkesbury River 3 - consists of two sections; the first commencing at Cheero Point, Mooney Mooney Creek and proceeding south to and adjacent with Point Road, Mooney Mooney. The second section extends over the Brooklyn area running adjacent to Brooklyn and Dangar Roads.
Hawkesbury River WAO 4 - includes Cogra Bay, both sides of Mullet Creek, Little Wobby, Dangar Island and Patonga.
Hawkesbury River 5 - commences at the northern end of Bar Point and heads west to Windsor. The precinct extends into the Macdonald and Colo rivers.
11. PITTWATER MACRO PRECINCT Narrabeen Lagoon - encompasses the waterway adjoining residential land with water as a boundary.
Pittwater 1 - extends south from Beach Road, Palm Beach to reserve adjacent to Etival Street, Palm Beach.
Pittwater 2 - commences at George Street, Avalon and extends south to the Esplanade, Mona Vale.
Pittwater 3 - extends north from Maybanke Cove, Bayview to Church Point.
Pittwater 4 - extends south from Church Point to McCarrs Creek Reseve.
Pittwater WAO - includes and extends from the western side of McCarrs Creek to Coasters Retreat and includes Scotland Island.
12. GEORGES RIVER MACRO PRECINCT Georges River 1 - commences on the northern side at San Souci and extends west to Kyle Williams Recreational Reserve, Blakehurst. On the southern side the precinct runs from Taren Point westward to A.R.Hurst Reserve at Oyster Bay.
Georges River 2 - extends on the northern side from Kyle Williams Recreational Reserve, Kyle Bay westward to Como Bridge, Oatley. On the southern side the precinct runs west from the Kareela golf course to the Como Bridge.
Georges River 3 - runs west from the Como Bridge to the Alfords Point Bridge, and south along Woronora River to Woronora.
Georges River 4 WAO - includes the waterfront settlement upstream from Prince Edward Park Road, Woronora Heights.
Georges River 5 - includes the remainder of the waterway upstream of Alfords Point, including Mill Creek.
13. PORT HACKING MACRO PRECINCT Port Hacking 1 - covers the area from Cronulla Peninsula westerly to Lilli Pilli Point Reserve.
Port Hacking 2 - extends from Lilli Pilli Point Reserve to Maroopna Road, Yowie bay.
Port Hacking 3 - commences at Calypso Place, Yowie Bay and extends to Swallow Rock Reserve, Grays Point. The southern component of the precinct covers the waterway around Bundeena
14. SOUTH COAST MAP 1 MACRO PRECINCT Crookhaven to Shoalhaven - extends along Shoalhaven and Crookhaven Rivers west to Morton National Park.
Currarong Creek - extends along Currarong Creek with the township of Currarong.
Currambene Creek - extends from Huskisson northwest along Currambene Creek to Falls Creek.
St Georges Basin to Sussex Inlet - covers St Georges Basin from Sanctuary Point in the north to Sussex Inlet in the south and Wandandian in the west.
Conjola Lake - covers the waterway known as Lake Conjola, including Conjola Creek.
Burrill Lake - covers the waterway known as Burrill Lake.
Tabourie Creek - extends along Tabourie Creek in the township of Lake Tabourie.
15. SOUTH COAST MAP 2 PRECINCT Clyde River - extends from Malua Bay through to Batemans Bay and westward along the Clyde River.
Tomaga, Moruya, Tuross - includes Tomaga River, Moruya River, Tuross Lake and Borang Lake*
Wagonga, Wallaga - includes the waterway at Wagonga Inlet and Wallaga Lake*
Pambula, Merimbula - includes Merimbula Lake and Pambula River*
Wonboyn - includes Wonboyn River*
