Status

The Crown Lands Division of the LPMA provides a comprehensive land status and information service for all Crown land in New South Wales.

Crown land status refers to details of the current situation of an area of Crown land. A land status report may include details of ownership, historical and chronological information, land description, and boundary details. Please note that fees and charges may apply.

Historical searches relating to land settlement in NSW are also available through some of our Crown Lands offices. These services attract similar fees to status searches.

How do I go about asking for the status of a particular piece of Crown land?

Status requests can be made by phoning your local Crown Lands office. 

You should ensure that sufficient information is included to identify the area of land you are interested in. This would include any lot in deposited plan number, Crown portion, parish name, locality, and a clear diagram illustrating the land in question.

Our Crown lands information database (CLIDNet) defines land boundaries, provides status data collection, maintains records and the sale of information reports and products.

Please note that Crown Lands Division of LPMA can only provide the status of Crown land. Details relating to the status of other State-owned lands - including State Rail Authority property, Roads and Traffic Authority property, National Parks, and State Forests - are managed by separate authorities. Of course the LPMA also provides details of freehold lands through the title search facility in Land and Property Information (LPI) Division.
