Projects

The Authority is currently rolling out a web based platform for the measurement and benchmarking of electricity, gas and water consumption.

The system will capture and report data on the performance of the State Property Authoritys  buildings, including energy and water performance trends, smart meter data (where available), indicative NABERS ratings and provide over time improved benchmarking and building performance.

A metering audit of State Property Authority owned properties greater than 500m2 is underway as part of a broader metering strategy. Improved metering will allow better monitoring of performance and will assist the Authority in achieving 4.5 Star energy and water NABERS ratings by July 2011.

Sustainability is also being integrated into the capital works program to improve the environmental performance of office space in line with the NSW Government Sustainability Policy targets.

The State Property Authority is working with the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water and other key stakeholders to ensure sustainability standards are achieved and maintained in non Government owned buildings.

The prime mechanism for this will be via Green Lease Schedules which provide a mutual obligation on landlords and tenants to engage on sustainability issues via the establishment of Building Management Committees, the adoption of Environmental Management Plans and the monitoring of building performance ratings.
