The Sustainability Policy for New South Wales Government detailed in Premier's Memorandum 2008-28 outlines how the Government will lead by example in sustainable energy and water use, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, fleet and waste management and sustainable procurement.
The policy is divided into five action strategies detailing coordination of commitments, coverage, benchmarks, implementation and reporting requirements.
The strategies are:
- Office buildings
- Health facilities
- Educational facilities
- Fleet management
- Waste, recycling and purchasing
The State Property Authority is identified as a key support agency in the delivery of the Office Building Strategy, in addition to meeting its own commitments for fleet, waste, recycling and purchasing.
The Authority is supporting the delivery of the Government's Sustainability Policy through the application of its own sustainability strategy in the operational management of the government owned and leased property portfolio.
