If you’ve dreamed of having a little bit of movie magic at your wedding reception then Rawsonville Hall could be just what you’re looking for.
The hall, which is located between Dubbo and Narromine in a quiet rural setting surrounded by farmland, was used as a location for the 2009 Australian film Prime Mover.
The film, a comedy drama written and directed by David Caesar and starring Michael Dorman and Emily Barclay, told the story of a long haul truck driver who finds the reality of life on the road is far removed from his youthful dreams of owning and driving his own prime mover.
The hall, which is run by the Rawsonville Recreation Reserve and Hall Trust, featured in a wedding and wedding reception scene in the movie and the nearby cemetery was used for a funeral scene.

Two wedding receptions have been held in the hall, with the marriages being officiated in Dubbo, and another is booked for the Easter weekend in March 2011. The groom is the great grandson of a couple who have been very staunch supporters of the Rawsonville Hall over many years.
But there’s much more to the hall than wedding receptions. It is used for a wide variety of events including regular twice yearly meetings of the Alpha Church Group from Dubbo.
An old time dance was held at the hall earlier this year, with the proceeds donated to the RSPCA, and there are plans for an annual get together to be held after approximately 60 people attended a successful event last September.
The hall is available for bookings for most social occasions including reunions, dances, parties, Christmas in July events, barbeques, wedding receptions and lots more.
