RACA_2_-_Silverton_Village_Community_Reserve_Trust_-_Helen_MurrayThe winners of this year’s Crown Reserve Trust Award category at the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement and Community Awards were announced at a presentation ceremony in Wollongong on Saturday, 30 October.

The Crown Reserve Trust Award, sponsored by the Land and Property Management Authority, is designed to recognise the work done by the volunteers, local communities and councils who manage local Crown reserves and look after community assets like parks and showgrounds.

The award is in two divisions – the Community Trust Award for community volunteer trust boards and the Corporate Managers Award for reserve trust administrators, such as councils.

The Banjo Paterson Park Trust, managed by the Yeoval and District Progress Association, was named the winner of the Community Trust Award.

The Banjo Paterson Bush Park covers nine hectares on the eastern side of the village of Yeoval.

Since the trust took over the land six years ago hundreds of trees have been planted, extensive erosion control completed, and huge weed eradication undertaken. Facilities have also been installed and upgraded which have helped attract tourists to the area.
