LPMA has sought applications for community trust board members to manage the affairs of the Joy Cummings Centre at Newcastle.
The centre is an historic building named after the first female Lord Mayor in Australia, former Newcastle Lord Mayor Joy Cummings.
Appointment of a trustee board will ensure the ongoing use of the building reflects the values of the late Ms Cummings, particularly her support for women and families.
A grant of $3,000 will be provided to the reserve trust as start up funding.
The Joy Cummings Centre is currently used by two valuable non-profit community family support organisations - the Newcastle Family Support Service (www.nfss.org.au/default.htm) and the Nova Womens Accommodation and Support Service (02) 4961 6778.
LPMA advertised for trustees with a good mix of skills, ages and backgrounds to volunteer for the trust board.
The successful applicants will be named in the near future.
