Reinstatement of historic wharf at Farquhar Park

The reinstatement of the historic wharf at Farquhar Park is part of the Farquhar Park Infrastructure Improvement Project, Manning Entrance State Park’s renewal of this popular recreation destination.

The Manning Entrance State Park Trust, which is jointly managed by the Crown Lands Division and Greater Taree City Council (GTCC), successfully applied for grant funding under the NSW Maritime Better Boating Program to reconstruct the historic wharf facility and for future foreshore improvements.

The project also has the support of local community groups - Farquhar Inlet Management Group (FIMG) and the Manning Valley Great Lakes 4WD Club (in-kind labour and materials).

When constructed, the wharf will replicate the historic wharf that, in the past, served the recreation and dairying needs of the area as well as the Sunday destinations for many local church picnics.

The remnant piers of that wharf remain today. The public wharf’s reinstatement will complement public boating on the Manning River and local public recreation.

The Manning Entrance State Park Trust greatly appreciates GTCC’s cooperation in fast tracking the construction certificate, the donations of materials from local businesses and the local community groups’ in-kind assistance to realise the NSW Maritime Better Boating Program 50:50 grant funding.
