The Vinegar Hill Monument site will be protected for future generations as dedicated public land after it was transferred to the Crown.
The Monument commemorates the Battle of Vinegar Hill in 1804 and is located within the Castlebrook Cemetery at Rouse Hill owned by Invocare Australia Ltd.
Transferring the site into public ownership means the preservation of a site of great historical significance and guarantees access for the general public.

The site will be dedicated for heritage purposes. Dedication is the strongest form of reservation of Crown Land and applies to the most significant parcels of Government-owned land such as National Parks, cemeteries, historic sites and showgrounds.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been negotiated between Invocare and the Crown Lands Division of the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) for the ongoing management of the site.
A reserve trust has been appointed to manage the site which will be jointly managed by Invocare and DPI.
Under the arrangement, Invocare will be responsible for the day to day management of the site, including mowing and cleaning. DPI will be responsible for any major repairs and capital expenditure.
